Here’s All You Need To Know About Delhi Traffic Police’s Advisory During Chhath Puja

Taking to the X (formerly Twitter) platform, Delhi Traffic Police (@dtptraffic) shared all about the special traffic arrangements for Chhath Puja celebrations in the city.

Devotees are coming near ponds and rivers in huge numbers and roads close to these water bodies may have to experience some traffic jams or congestion. Delhi traffic police issued the advisory so that commuters do not face issues. Also, following the advisory can help to reduce the chances of the crowd affecting smooth vehicular movement as well.

  • In the advisory, the Delhi traffic police mentioned how traffic flow may be affected starting from Sunday afternoon to Monday morning. And these are only for transportation on the roads close to ponds visited by a lot of devotees.
  • To avoid any sort of congestion, make sure you avoid the roads that are adjoining water bodies and places where devotees are going to celebrate Chhath Puja.
  • The ponds that might see a huge number of people during Chhath Puja celebrations are at Krishna Market Jhilmil Colony, Chhat Puja Kalyan Samiti Sainik Enclave, DDA Land close to the JPC Hospital, near D-Block Mangol Puri, Tughlakabad Kaya Maya Ground, and more.
  • Traffic police also advised people to avoid roads that are close to the festival sites such as Kalindi Kunj Bridge, Maa Anandmai Marg, Vikas Marg, GTK Road, Rohtak Road, Pankha Road, and more.

No definite or designated diversions have been announced yet. Delhi traffic police stated in the advisory that decisions for appropriate diversions will be taken by the concerned authorities on the basis of the situation and requirements during that time. Traffic police also urged commuters to park their vehicles in proper parking areas. Parking anywhere roadside can be a hindrance to the usual traffic flow and cause issues for people on the roads. The advisory stated about asking commuters to travel more on public transportation facilities such as the metro. This can help in avoiding the rush and congestion on the roads.

There are no travel restrictions for commuters going to the railway stations and ISBT. Though there are no such limitations or rules for visiting these places, it is better to keep some extra time in hand in case of any issues. Leaving home early and having enough time in hand can help commuters from sudden situations of facing any delay while travelling.
