Abu Dhabi is always buzzing with events that happen in the emirate. And the most recent event that’s slated to take place this week is the 31st UAE President Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses. It’s slated to take place on February 17, Saturday. So, here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming racing event.

UAE President Cup For Purebred Arabian Horses To Take Place In Feb

Happening on February 17, the UAE President Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses is going to be taking place in Abu Dhabi. For those who aren’t aware, this is held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. He is the UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Presidential Court & President of Abu Dhabi Equestrian Club. And the 31st edition has several categories of the competition wherein the first category covers a distance of 2,200 metres.

There’s An Increase In The Prize For This Edition

As it happens, His Highness Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan has announced an increase in the prizes for this edition. Yes, according to a report by the Abu Dhabi Media Office, it was revealed that the price has been raised to AED4.5 million, which is an additional AED2 million. In fact, more than 100 horses are expected to participate in races. As a result, they will cover diverse categories and distances during this event. So, this marks the largest participation in Purebred Arabian Horse Races on the Abu Dhabi race track. The inaugural race is scheduled to begin at 4:30 PM.

For those who are not aware, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan established the President Cup for Purebred Arabian Horses in 1994. This was done to emphasise the importance of pure Arabian horses and commemorate their value.
