Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aviation until May 15. Apart from this, the Airports Authority of India has continued to extend the closure of 25 Air Traffic Service Routes within the Delhi and Mumbai Flight Information Regions. Here’s more to it.

Full List Of 32 Airports Temporarily Shut For Civil Flight Operations

As per a report by The Times of India, on early Saturday morning, DGCA announced the temporary suspension of civil flight operations across 32 airports in the northern and western regions of India. This decision is effective from May 9 until May 15, 2025 at 5:29 am. This comes under a series of Notices to Airmen (NOTAMs) due to “operational concerns.”

Both scheduled and non-scheduled civil flights have been affected by this suspension. Private operators and airlines have been directed to come up with alternative flight plans as per the updated air traffic advisories. This is in coordination with the air traffic control (ATC) units to ensure safety is maintained and disruption of any kind is minimised.

Delhi & Mumbai Airports Release Travel Advisories

Meanwhile, Mumbai Airport has issued an advisory to its citizens to reach the airport well in advance for their flights. Travellers have been asked to carry the required government documents with them for identification. Passengers must limit liquids to 100 ml in handbags, sealed in ziplock pouches. They must cooperate with the security and stay updated on airlines’ list of prohibited items.

Delhi Airport took to X to assure citizens that all operations will continue as usual. However, some flight schedules may be impacted as informed by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security. People must expect longer time for security checks.

There is a need to rely on only official sources for travel updates and arrive well in advance of departure time. Travellers must check their flight status on the Delhi Airport’s official website and cooperate with airline and security staff during security checks.
