The magnificent Maraya holds the world record for being the largest mirrored building. This is hardly surprising, given the state-of-art structure is covered with whopping 9,740 mirrored panels. A concert hall with dining facilities, this landmark has been designed by Italian Architects Gioforma, and it was accorded the status structure in January 2020.

2. Maraya Means Mirror Or Reflection In Arabic

Maraya translates to mirrors or reflections in Arabic. And there’s probably no better name than this, for this modish structure that’s been creating headlines ever since it was built. It’s not just an architectural marvel, but a piece of art that’s located in the desert canyon of Ashar Valley and has been designed in such as way, that it blends with its surroundings. Reflecting the beauty of AlUla, this marvel celebrates AlUla’s significant role in history. Forming a contemporary canvas, these mirror panels reflect the remarkable heritage of the area. It is therefore safe to surmise that Maraya is the centrepiece of the regions growing cultural scene.

3. A New Copper Mirror Was Developed To Make This Building

While the first glass makes you think that this building is entirely made of glass or mirrors, but you couldn’t be farther from the truth. Owing to its corrosive properties under the harsh UV rays, architects had to forgo the use of mirrors, and develop a new copper mirror. Yes, this newly developed mirror was based on the highly durable Guardian UltraMirror™ interior mirror, but boasted a special protective coating. As a result, it can stand against some of the harshest elements on the planet! And the best bit? Copper is corrosion-resistant!

4. There’s An Open-Air Terrace Where You Can Dine Under The Stars

While there are three main dining areas, it’s their spectacular terrace dining that will make you want to jump with joy. Maraya Social is chef Jason Atherton’s passion project that boasts the flavours of the AlUla Oasis. The menu here features a carefully curated list of dishes from Mediterranean, Arabian, and British cuisines, all rolled into one.

5. This Concert Hall Houses 500 Seats

As this is primarily a concert hall, it makes sense that the beautiful building has been designed to comfortably seat 500 people. A multi-purpose venue, Maraya has previously hosted exciting performances, VIP experiences, and even pop-up events. Featuring VIP Boxes and Media Balcony, watching a show at Maraya is truly an enriching experience. As it happens, they also have conference areas.  And also feature a conference hall, spread over 700 square metres and boasts a seating capacity of 200 people.
