5 Star Hotel Charges ₹1700 For Two Boiled Eggs, Customer Shares Bill On Twitter

After Rahul Bose was charged with ₹ 442 for two bananas, this is the second incident where a 5-star hotel overcharged its guest. Kartik Dhar was charged ₹ 1700 for two boiled eggs by Four Seasons Hotel in Mumbai. He posted a picture of his bill on Twitter which shows the exorbitant amount charged by the 5-star hotel.

He shared the photo tagging Rahul Bose and the hotel and captioned it saying “2 eggs for Rs 1700 at the @FourSeasons Mumbai. @RahulBose1 Bhai Aandolan karein?”

In the incident that happened with Rahul Bose, Federation of Hotel & Restaurant Associations of India said the bill was justified and there was nothing illegal. They justified it saying unlike a retail store, the hotel offers services, cutlery, and plates. Further, the association said, adding 18% GST is a legal requirement.

The Four Seasons Hotel has not replied to Kartik’s twitter post. Nor has the hotel come out with an official statement clarifying it, justifying their action or even being sorry about it. This trend of 5-star hotels of taking a lot of money for items is coming out on twitter and there is anger and outrage in people about the same.
