Since when he was three, he has been growing his hair and donating it to make wigs for cancer patients. The eight year old hero has already done so thrice now. Moved by noble deed, Omar was recently invited to Al Bateen Palace, where he met His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Omar’s mother Amira Yousuf, said: “Since my children have seen my younger sister battle cancer, they have pledged their support in some of the other ways to support cancer patients. My children saw her through the treatment – when she was sick and then when she became better. They would ask a lot of questions asking about what was happening to her. We answered them positively and didn’t hide anything from them, this is what gave them the inspiration to help those in need.”

What Else?

Well, UAE children have engaged in such heroic deeds in the past too. Last year, young brothers- Rishi and Rohan, shaved off their locks for the same cause. The inspiration came from a fellow classmate who’s mother was undergoing chemotherapy.

At that time, the school was having a campaign for pupils to donate their hair and the little brothers spent 18 months growing their hair. They then donated it to Hair for Hope India, a charity which provides wigs for cancer patients.
