A Mega Thai Fest Is Coming To Abu Dhabi This January

Does the very thought of  tom yam goong, pad Thai, som tam, massaman curry, green curry, or Thai fried rice make you salivate?  If you are a big fan of Thailand and all things associated with it (just like us), then here’s something that will make you jump in joy. A mini Thailand is coming down to Abu Dhabi this month and we can’t keep calm. The Thai Festival 2020 is happening at Umm Al Emarat Park, Abu Dhabi from 17-18 January. Block your calendars!

What’s It?

The Royal Thai Embassy in Abu Dhabi, in partnership with the UAE is organising a mega Thai Festival this month. The grand fest will happen at Umm Al Emarat Park, Abu Dhabi from 17-18 January.

The two-day event will have it all under one roof- making it the perfect weekend hangout spot for families and Thai fans. Foodies can go restaurant hopping and savour Thailand’s delicacies, as well as watch traditional Thai performances while binging on their favoruite cuisine. In case you love cooking, there’s also a live Thai cooking demonstration so you can make a not of the recipes.

Fitness freaks can try their hands at Thai kickboxing or indulge in some ‘me’ time at the Thai massage centre. Shopaholics can also shop for thai products. And while you’re busy shopping, kids can stay busy at the curltural workshop. The event also has workshops for some really amazing raffle draws with exciting prizes in store.

This is the fourth year the Royal Thai Embassy is organizing the Thai Festival. The grand mela was held at Yas Mall Abu Dhabi during the year 2016 and 2017 and was held at the Royal Thai Embassy in 2019.

Besides, eight new attractions are opening in Abu Dhabi this year. From the world’s largest snow park to a stunning mangrove walk and a massive aquarium, here are eight new attractions coming up in Abu Dhabi in 2020.

1. Al Qana

Soon, there will be stiff competition for Abu Dhabi’s corniche. Abu Dhabi will soon be home to yet another massive entertainment destination and it’s close to the Grand Mosque. Going by reports, Al Qana the new marine project will open doors to public this year.

Developed by Al Barakah International Investments, the waterfront destination stretches across 2.4 km and will also be home to Middle East’s largest aquarium. That aside, the project will also have a cinema hall, dedicated areas for indoor and outdoor sports, jogging and cycling tracks and a delectable range of restaurants. Three and four floored furnished luxury apartments, are also part of the massive project.

2. Club Social

One of the biggest music fest in the region, Club Social will be back with a bang from 12 to 14 March. While the exact location and schedule is yet to be confirmed, we hear there will be two international acts as well as the Battle of the Bands – where UAE’s upcoming musicians will compete in front of a a live crowd. Plus, there will be loads of food trucks, entertainment, water sports and much more so you can hang around for an entire day.

3. Mangrove Walk

If going on long strolls is your idea of unwinding then Abu Dhabi might be your favourite new spot. A gorgeous boardwalk amidst a landscape of mangroves will open in the capital from January. The AED 5 billion Mangrove Walk Project, will stretch along the Yas Island in Abu Dhabi and will open doors to the public in January 2020.
