Abu Dhabi Parks And Beaches Closed Due To Unstable Weather; Heavy Rainfall Reported

UAE cities are experiencing unstable weather conditions—including heavy rainfall, hailstorms, thunder and lightning. In Abu Dhabi, the authorities have temporarily closed parks and beaches for public use. Following this, other cities have taken preventive measures till the weather stabilises.

Abu Dhabi: Parks And Beaches Closed Due To Bad Weather

The Abu Dhabi municipality has declared that parks and beaches would be temporarily closed because of the anticipated unpredictability and volatility in the weather. Starting today, that is April 16, 2024, the closure will be in place until the weather clears up.

A weather advisory has been issued by the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), indicating a possibility of cloudy weather and scattered showers throughout the United Arab Emirates through Wednesday evening. They even issued yellow and orange warnings for Abu Dhabi and Dubai cautioning of the ‘hazardous weather condition’.

According to the NCM, commuters should “avoid driving unless absolutely necessary” and use caution when they are on the road. As a result, starting tomorrow, all government offices in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will operate remotely, and all schools will switch to distance learning.

Additionally, the parks in Masfout, Al Manama, and Ajman will be closed for the safety of visitors. The restrictions will remain in place till April 17, 2024.

Heavy Downpours In UAE Cities

After heavy rain and thunderstorms in many areas of the United Arab Emirates, weather warnings have been issued. As thunder and lightning alarmed the residents, heavy rainfall was recorded in Abu Dhabi and Dubai just after midnight. Heavy rains persisted for many hours in Dubai, prompting meteorologists to warn that this was the “first wave” of inclement weather expected to hit the Emirates later in the day.

The persistent rain caused several roads to flood early in the morning, and flights into and out of Dubai International Airport had delays.

Emirates Airline cautioned that there may be delays on the roads leading to Dubai International Airport and advised customers to make advance plans.
