Aditi Rao Hydari: No Bollywood & Tollywood; We Are 1 Country & 1 Film Industry

On this episode of Sunday Brunch, our Editor-in-Chief Kamiya Jani met up with the beautiful, elegant and talented Aditi Rao Hydari. We relished a great spread of a daawat with the Anarkali of ‘Taj: Divided by Blood’ and we couldn’t be happier. Did you know she has royal roots? This makes it even more interesting that she portrayed the role of Anarkali. Upon chatting we learned that she considers the entire film industry as one.

Aditi Rao Hydari Considers The Entire Film Industry Of India To Be One

We played a fun game called Sugar and Spice with Aditi Rao Hydari. We gave her some choices and she had to pick one. We started with the basic one, sugar and spice and in response she told us that she liked both but went with spice. The next one was biryani or vada pav. Can you guess her answer? Her replied, “Biryani.” We mean, of course, right?

Then, Kamiya gave her a tough choice between Bollywood and Tollywood and Aditi thought that was entirely not fair. She went on to say that it should not be segregated depending on the regions of India. She said, “First of all, it’s not Tollywood, it’s the Indian film industry.”

“We are one country,” she said, “So we are the Indian film industry.” That sounds about right and instead of naming each film industry depending on region, we should simply unite. She also informed us that she is extremely lucky to work in multiple languages.

Aditi Rao Hydari is not from the film industry background yet it was evident that she would do something in the film industry and entertainment. The realisation of her dream of acting came into being when she watched Mani Ratnam’s Bombay.

Isn’t it cool that the same movie titled ‘Bombay’ stirred something inside of her and she now has fame in the city of Bombay! Bombay is rightly dubbed the city of dreams and hers did come true!
