A popular vlogger based in Chennai, Mohamed Ashik who goes by his social media handle, ‘abrokecollegekid,’ recently shared a video of him interviewing an old homeless woman. In the interview, she reveals that she is from Burma (now Myanmar).
She reveals that her name is Merlin and that she is 81 years old. She says that she is originally from Rangoon (now Yangon), and came to India with her husband. She used to live with him and her mother-in-law. However, they all ended up passing away and Merlin was left destitute.
Perhaps the most striking part of the video is that Merlin narrated all of this in fluent English. When asked what she used to do, she said that she used to take tuition in subjects like English and maths but now she begs for a living. In order to help the woman, the vlogger made a deal with her.

The vlogger first gifted her a sari and then said that if she helped him make English-tutoring videos, he would pay her whatever he could afford. He even has an Instagram account ready for it! You can follow the account on Instagram and help the old woman make a living for herself.
