Days after a social media post accused Air India of poor crew accommodation arrangement, the airline has finally responded. Reacting to the post and social media outrage, an Air India spokesperson insisted that the airline provides their crew with comfortable stays and the accommodation shown on X (formerly Twitter) was a “lapse” and they will take “appropriate action.”

Air India faced the brunt of the internet when pictures of the room where the airline, allegedly, made its crew stay during a layover went viral on social media. Ragged rooms with no bed sheets, towels, or basic amenities were, reported, provided to the crew members of an Air India flight.

Now, reacting to the online posts, an Air India spokesperson has finally addressed the matter. While talking to Hindustan Times, the spokesperson said that the well-being of the staff is important for Air India. He then insisted that the airlines always offer “comfortable stays in globally known hotels for their layovers.” He called this particular incident a “lapse” that they will take “appropriate action” for.

The report further suggested that the Air India crew has been raising the issue of poor accommodation during layovers with the airline’s management. Not just on domestic routes but internationally too, the crew has faced issues with improper accommodations. They say that such incidents and lack of proper accommodations dampen the morale of the team.

X Post Brought The Poor State Of Airline’s Crew Accommodation

On July 11, Air India came under scrutiny after an X (formerly Twitter) post showed that the airline gave their crew subpar accommodation during a flight layover. With millions of views, thousands of reposts, and hundreds of likes, the post went viral and brought a lot of backlash to the airline.

According to Hindustan Times, the incident reported is when two of the female cabin crew members were not accommodated in the hotel as it was fully booked. The post included pictures of the room, and it fueled the anger of netizens. The X (formerly Twitter) post said, “Dignity cannot be a trade-off for Cost rationalisation.” And the netizens resonated with the point.
