Prime Minister Narendra Modi was in Himachal Pradesh very recently to inaugurate a very special project. He inaugurated the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in the Bilaspur district on Wednesday. The Prime Minister said during the inauguration that AIIMS Bilaspur will follow all the environment-friendly procedures and will be called by the name ‘Green AIIMS’.

Narendra Modi shared many insights on Green AIIMS during his address in Bilaspur. He said, ‘We have worked on ensuring developing benefits reach the remotest parts of India in the last 8 years. With AIIMS Bilaspur, people will be able to access affordable healthcare facilities in Himachal Pradesh. Also, this hospital will be run in an eco-friendly manner and will be known as Green AIIMS.

Modi Ji called the inauguration of AIIMS Bilaspur ‘a moment of pride in Himachal Pradesh’. He said that Himachal Pradesh is one of the 3 states chosen to have Bulk Drugs Park and this will help in getting affordable medicines in India. He further added that this state played a major role in ‘Rashtra Raksha’ and now AIIMS Bilaspur will play a very important role in Jeevan Raksha’.

Things You Need To Know About Green AIIMS:

1. PM Narendra Modi took to his official Twitter account to share about the AIIMS Bilaspur.

He laid the foundation stone of the hospital back in 2017. The new AIIMS will have 18 specialty departments, 17 super specialty departments, and 18 modular operation theatres.

2. This Himachal hospital has 750 beds including 64 ICU beds. Constructed at a whopping cost of 1,470 crores, this hospital is built under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana. It is standing tall over a massive area of 247 acres. Patients can get access to modern diagnostic machines and advanced facilities such as dialysis facilities with 24 hours emergency.

3. For better infrastructure, AIIMS Bilaspur also has the Centre for Digital Health to be accessible to the tribal community from inaccessible parts of the state. In fact, the hospital aims to conduct health camps in these locations to provide great health services and facilities.

4. The hospital will have 100 students admitted for MBBS courses. Also, they will admit 60 students for nursing courses.
