Air Hostess Detained For Smuggling 960 Grams Of Gold In Her Rectum

Identified as Surabhi Khatun, she is actually from Kolkata. The 26-year-old air hostess was allegedly smuggling almost 1 kg of gold and hid it inside her rectum to pass the security checks and transport it. However, her plans did not succeed as officials caught her at Kerala’s Kannur Airport. A report by NDTV stated that she tucked 960 grams of gold in her rectum.
Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) stated that it was on May 28 when the air hostess was travelling from Muscat to Kannur in Kerala on flight IX 714 by concealing the gold inside her body. DRI officials intercepted her at the airport after the plane’s arrival.
Following the personal search, the officials discovered that the cabin crew member working for Air India Express hid the overall amount of gold in compound form in her rectum, according to a report by She the People. This shocking incident became the first-ever case in India where an air hostess has been detained for smuggling gold by hiding it inside her body.

This Was Likely Not Surabhi Khatun’s First Gold Smuggling Incident
The DRI officials confiscated the gold compound at the Kannur airport and arrested her. Later, she was produced before the judicial magistrate. She has been remanded in custody for 2 weeks. According to a report by The New Indian Express, the air hostess might have been a part of several incidents of smuggling gold. The DRI officials are investigating further to get hold of the people in this illegal setup.
