Air India Cancels 60 Flights On India-US Routes
Air India cancelled around 60 flights on the India-US routes between November and December this year. The airline was prompted to take this step, amid the peak winter travel period, due to the non-availability of aircraft. According to CNBC TV18, many wide-body planes of the airline have been grounded due to maintenance issues and supply chain constraints. Reportedly, there has been a delay in the return of some Air India aircraft from heavy maintenance. This has caused significant disruptions and cancellations on several routes.
Air India is trying to mitigate the issue by providing flight alternatives on the cancelled routes. They are also giving passengers an option to rebook a journey on other Air India group services that operate on the same or adjacent days. Furthermore, they are also offering passengers an option to change the date for future flights or get a full refund. In a statement, Air India said they “regret the inconvenience caused by this constraint beyond” their control.
