On January 22, Mumbai International Airport welcomed the first Airbus A350-900 aircraft of India. An Air India aircraft, Airbus A350 took its inaugural flight from Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport and landed at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport in Mumbai. With its cutting-edge technology, this new aircraft will give passengers a never-like before-flight experience. Read on to learn more about the routes and features of this aircraft.

Maiden Operation Begins For India’s First Airbus A350

In a milestone flight, Air India launched the commercial flight of its Airbus A350-900. Flagging off on Monday, the flight operated from Bengaluru to Mumbai and carried a nearly full complement of passengers. These passengers were not only eager to experience the thrill of the Airbus A350 but also the new distinctive Air India livery. The Airbus A350 is part of the massive 470 new aircraft order Air India placed last year.

This newly introduced flight, AI 589, will cover domestic routes between Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, and Mumbai for now. It is scheduled to operate every day, barring Tuesdays, to depart from Mumbai at 10.05 AM. At day’s end, it will land in Mumbai at 12.05 PM after covering all the scheduled routes. The aircraft will subsequently be deployed on long-haul international flights as well.

Airbus A350 is configured with a three-class cabin layout and features 316 seats. These include 28 private Business suites that have full-flat beds; 24 Premium Economy seats that offer extra legroom, and finally a total of 264 spacious Economy seats.

Air India Adds In-Flight Entertainment Experience For Long-Haul Flights

As part of Air India’s recent revamp project, they have introduced an all-new in-flight entertainment experience in the Airbus A350. This experience included 2,200 hours of entertainment content across formats and genres. You can experience 1,000 hours of movies, 600 hours of TV, and 600 hours of audio in this in-flight entertainment package. This experience is currently available only on their brand-new A350 flight, newly inducted B777-200LRs flights, and progressively on their incoming new and refurbished widebody aircraft.
