Airlines To Take Strict Actions Against Mask Violators As Covid Cases Rise

With India witnessing a rise in COVID-19 cases again, aviation regulator Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has asked airlines to take strict actions against mask violators. DGCA has instructed to carry out surprise inspections at airports and on airlines and passengers. You will now be able to remove your face masks in airports only under exceptional circumstances and for permitted reasons. DGCA has also asked airports to increase surveillance and deny entry to anyone not wearing a mask. Pointing to their circular issued in June that states these guidelines, the aviation regulator said that due to the increasing Covid cases, there should be strict compliance with the rules.

Due To Rise In COVID-19 Cases, DGCA Has Advised Airlines To Strictly Comply With Covid Protocol Inside The Aircraft

One of the most important Covid-19 protocols inside an aircraft is to keep wearing your mask at all times. And as India is seeing massive growth in Covid cases and reinfections, DGCA on August 16, 2022, instructed Airlines to take strict action against anyone not wearing a mask in the airports or inside the aircraft.
“Yes, it is getting serious and in view of this, we have reiterated our instructions to the stakeholders yesterday. We will follow it up with random checks and in case of violation, tough action will be taken against concerned stakeholders,” revealed DGCA chief Arun Kumar.

The recent Recorded Number Of Covid Cases In India

According to Union health ministry data, India recorded 9,062 fresh COVID-19 infections on Wednesday which took its tally to 4,42,86,256, while the number of active cases came down to 1,05,058. As such the step taken by DGCA to take strict actions against mask violators is totally the need of the hour. Speaking on the massive rise in Covid cases in India, Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena tweeted, “We are witnessing a rise in COVID-19 infections, consistently high positivity, and cases of reinfection. It is essential that we realize that the pandemic is far from over. I appeal to all to strictly adhere to COVID Appropriate Behaviour. We cannot afford to let our guards down.” And we can’t agree more. In such crucial times, it’s best we all adhere to the Covid-19 protocols and keep our masks on at all times!
