As the day of love AKA Valentine’s Day draws closer, couples around the world are planning to do something special for the day. However, if you are someone who lives in the city of Bengaluru, your celebrations might have to be alcohol-free. We say this because a directive by the city district collector has been announced. Yes, Dayananda K.A., the Bengaluru City District Collector has announced a ban on the sale of liquor for three days from Valentine’s Day onwards. Alcohol Banned In Bengaluru On Valentine’s Day

According to a report by OneIndia, it was revealed that the Bengaluru City District Collector has announced a ban on the sale of liquor in the city from February 14 to 17. The reason for this has been attributed to the Karnataka Legislative Council Bengaluru Teachers Constituency By-election 2024. So, with the motive of conducting a free and fair election while also maintaining peace in the city, this decision was taken.

It Comes Ahead Of Karnataka Legislative Council Bengaluru Teachers Constituency By-election 2024

For those who aren’t aware, seven assembly constituencies of Bangalore city will be exercising their vote to elect a new body. Yes, this includes – Yelahanka, Batarayanpur, Yeshavantpur, Dasarahalli, Mahadevpur, Bangalore South, and Anekal. Moreover, the three-day ban will begin at 5 PM on February 14 and will be in place till 6 AM on February 17. Not to mention, this decision is according to Rule 10 (b) of the Karnataka Excise Rules, 1967. So by excising powers that have been conferred by Section 135(c) of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, this probation has been put in place. So what this means is that no type of liquor transactions will be allowed throughout the district and these will be dry days.

If you have plans to go out for a romantic dinner date with your special one on Valentine’s Day, you will not be served alcohol due to this ban. So, keep this development in mind before planning your surprise!
