All Vehicular Movement On Jammu-Srinagar Highway Suspended For Today; Full Advisory Inside

The Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Police has suspended all vehicular traffic on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway for today. According to their advisory, movement of any type of vehicle has been restricted on National Highway 44 (NH-44) on May 21. The reason for this suspension has not been disclosed but the traffic police has advised people to plan their commute keeping this suspension in mind.

No Vehicular Movement On Jammu-Srinagar Highway Today

The Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Police took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that all vehicular movement has been suspended on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway for May 21. As per the advisory, no vehicle, including ones carrying “fresh perishable/livestock/security forces” shall be allowed on either side of NH-44.

The advisory further stated that vehicular movement from Jammu to Chennai, Patnitop, Doda, Ramban, Gool, Banihal, Srinagar, and vice versa are also suspended.

No light, medium, or heavy vehicles except vehicles carrying patients and medical emergencies will be allowed to ply on NH-44 today. As of now, the Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Police has given no reason for the suspension of movement on the Jammu-Srinagar Highway. However, this could be due to necessary maintenance works on NH-44 by the NHAI.

Roads That Are Open For Use According To The Advisory

While NH-44 remains closed, the Jammu & Kashmir Traffic Police did list out the routes that were accessible and unaffected by this suspension. As per the advisory, vehicular movements on Kishtwar-Sinthan- Anantnag (NH-244), SSG Road, Mughal Road, and Bhaderwah-Chamba Road will remain open, subject to fair weather and good road conditions.
