Thane is slated to get a sprawling green space that stretches across more than 20 acres. This green space will be inspired by iconic locations like Central Park in New York City and Hyde Park in London. This green space, which will be called Grand Central Park, will also house water bodies which are likely to witness a diverse population of birds. Here are all of the important details that you would need to know about this new green space in Thane.

Thane To Get 20-Acre Grand Central Park In Kolshet

According to an article which was recently published by the Hindustan Times or HT, this new green space will be unveiled in Kolshet. The Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Eknath Shinde, will do the honours of inaugurating the park on February 8.

The project has been in the pipeline for a long time and the fact that it is finally being inaugurated is sure to bring joy to a lot of locals. Thane Municipal Corporation or the TMC is responsible for the development of this park which stretches across 20.5 acres.

Salient Features Of This Amazing New Green Space

The park will consist of more than 3,500 species of trees. It will also feature four themed gardens. These consist of a Mughal Garden, a Moroccan Garden, a Japanese park and a Chinese park.

The park will also consist of water bodies. It is speculated that the water bodies will witness a high number of diverse bird species flocking to it. This will make the spot a perfect place for ornithologists and bird enthusiasts alike.

It will also offer a jogging track, a skating area, lawn tennis courts as well as volleyball courts and more. It will also have play areas for kids.
