Amazon finally debuts in the UAE, putting speculations to rest. Shoppers can now access products from Amazon’s US website, place the order and make the payment by card, or cash-on-arrival.

What’s It?

After months of speculation, Amazon has finally entered the UAE market. While Souk was the online go-to for UAE residents, Amazon’s launch will now give shoppers access to products on the company’s US website. And the biggest plus- your goods will get delivered at the same speed.

Shoppers can choose the store, place the order and make the payment by card, or choose cash-on-arrival. As for the delivery, Amazon offers free next day delivery on orders above AED 100 as well as free same-day delivery to certain areas in the city. The website also has an Arabic version and a mobile app, making it more accessible to the locals.

Ronaldo Mouchawar, the co-founder of Souq and vice president of Amazon MENA, said: “Amazon. ae brings together Souq’s local know-how and Amazon’s global expertise, something we believe will be of significant benefit to UAE customers.”Our combined team in the region has grown to over 3,600 employees, and each and every one of us is thrilled to invite UAE customers to join us on this journey, where we will continue to grow our product range, ensure great prices, and provide a convenient and safe shopping experience.”

Earlier, sources revealed that Amazon bought over Souq.com for $580 million. In fact, the company also advised sellers not to sign up on Souq, but wait for Amazon’s launch in the region.
