Army Chopper Crashes In Kishtwar District Of J&K; Pilot & Co-Pilot Suffer Injuries

An Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Dhruv Helicopter of the Indian army faced a miserable accident on the morning of 4 May 2023. The chopper crashed at Marwah in the Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir on Thursday, according to various reports. The Indian army helicopter had 3 people on board during the time of the clash. A pilot, a co-pilot, and a technician were inside this Advanced Light Helicopter.

The army chopper made a crash landing in the Kishtwar district’s Marwah area. The unfortunate accident took place with 3 people on board in a forested region. The Jammu and Kashmir police and administration rushed to the spot and rescued the pilot, the co-pilot, and the technician from the accident in injured conditions. They were rushed to the Command Hospital in Udhampur. According to a report by Odisha Bhaskar, the helicopter started collapsing about 15 minutes after it departed.

A Statement Has Been Released

The Udhampur-based Northern Command of the army has shared a statement after this unfortunate incident, according to a report by The Hindu. The statement mentioned that the pilots already reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller and they were on an operational mission when they conducted a precautionary landing at about 11:15 AM. But the chopper made a hard landing on the unprepared area. Army rescue teams reached the place soon. For the case, a Court of Inquiry has been commanded. Unfortunately, this crash of the ALH Dhruv Helicopter is the third accident in the past 2 months.

Another massive clash occurred in March 2023 when two pilots on board lost their lives. They were on an Indian Army Aviation Cheetah helicopter. These pilots met with a horrific accident in Arunachal Pradesh, according to a report by The Times Of India. The plane crashed close to the Mandala Hills and it led to the death of the pilots inside.
