External Affairs Minister (EAM) S. Jaishankar and Heads of Mission and Ambassadors from 45 countries enjoyed an elephant safari at Assam’s Kaziranga National Park. S. Jaishankar Visits Assam & Enjoys Elephant Safari
From its flavourful tea to its stunning natural beauty, Assam is one of the most beautiful places in India and EAM S. Jaishankar agrees to this wholeheartedly as well. On Monday, he took an early morning elephant safari at the famous Kaziranga National Park with foreign dignitaries from 45 countries. He took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his awe and said, “Assam’s natural wildlife scenes are indeed stunning and pristine.”
“It’s a great start to the day,” S Jaishankar was quoted saying after he stepped down from elephant safari. He emphasised the importance of celebrating India’s rich heritage and natural beauty. The delegation is in Assam to participate in the Advantage Assam Summit, which will be held in Guwahati from February 25.
Rapid Tourism Growth In Assam
While talking to DD News after his eventful safari, S. Jaishankar said that he is aware that the tourist numbers are increasing rapidly in Assam. He acknowledged that even the tourist influx in Kaziranga National Park is increasing impressively. In fact, the park has already crossed three lakh visitors. Furthermore, he hinted that the government is now working to bring the state’s tourism into the spotlight and has plans that will not just increase domestic but international tourism as well.
He feels that Advantage Assam can help with this as well. It is the largest investment promotion and facilitation initiative undertaken by the Government of Assam and showcases the state’s geostrategic advantages and its potential as a key investment destination. Besides its tea gardens, Assam is now expanding into sectors such as agriculture, food processing, handicrafts, tourism, and information technology.
