Athletes Call Out Bland Olympic Village Meals, But Chocolate Muffins Score A Sweet Victory

The Olympic Village is a unique and vibrant place, buzzing with energy and excitement as athletes from around the world gather to compete on the biggest stage in sports. At the Summer Olympics in Paris, a delectable chocolate muffin emerged as a star.

Olympics Chocolate Muffin

The Olympic Village serves muffins that gained popularity through a series of TikToks posted by swimmer Henrik Christiansen from Norway. The sportsman, 27, initially posted a video of the muffin on July 25. In it, he showed his previous cafeteria centre meals and rated them an 11 out of 10. Since then, he has shared a ton of videos celebrating the muffin, referring to it as the “greatest thing about the Olympic village so far” and introducing himself as the “Olympic muffin man.” As per an article by TIME, Christiansen has created eleven videos that showcase the chocolate muffin.

Coup de Pates, a French catering company, verified on LinkedIn on Wednesday that their chocolate pastry has been getting a lot of attention. The muffins can be purchased by food service professionals via the online store of the company.

The Olympic Village boulangerie is run by Sodexo Live. It’s the French food-service business in charge of managing meal preparations for the Games. It serves approximately 2,000 pastries per day, including chocolate muffins. Olympic-ring baguettes, croissants, pain au chocolat, and focaccia are also produced by the boulangerie.

Rest Of The Olympic Village Food Rated Worse

The buzz around the chocolate muffins in the Olympic Village wasn’t just about their exceptional taste; it was also a stark contrast to the rest of the dining options available to athletes. While the muffins quickly gained a cult-like following, the other offerings in the dining hall did not fare as well in the athletes’ opinions.

The Olympic Village is currently one of the major attractions. Food in the Olympic Village is a big worry for athletes. According to an NY Post article, athletes have been chowing down on the cuisine at the Olympics Village for nearly a whole week, making it a major source of concern during the Paris Olympics. Renowned American gymnast Simone Biles also mentioned the type of French cuisine served to competitors at the Olympic Village. When questioned, she stated that it is well known that not everyone is pleased with the cuisine that the athletes in Paris are receiving.
