Baker Prepared A Beautiful Blue Focaccia Without Kneading The Dough

Taking to Instagram, 𝙹𝚊𝚍𝚎 𝙻𝚒𝚖 | 𝚂𝚘𝚞𝚛𝚍𝚘𝚞𝚐𝚑 𝙱𝚛𝚎𝚊𝚍 𝙷𝚘𝚖𝚎𝚋𝚊𝚔𝚎𝚛 (@shebakesourdough) shared her no-knead focaccia recipe.

Raise your hands if you watching videos of bread preparation. I find the steps, especially the rising part very satisfying. Recently, baker @shebakesourdough dropped a simple recipe for blue focaccia and the best part is that it does not require any tiring step of kneading dough for a long time.

Though this baked Italian bread called focaccia is not usually blue, the baker added some spirulina powder to get the desired colour.

In this reel, the baker baked a 6-inch focaccia. To make it, she used all these ingredients.

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 tsp blue spirulina powder
  • 1.5 tbsp levain/ 1/3 tsp instant yeast
  • 1/3 cup and 1 tbsp water
  • 1/2 salt salt
  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • Garlic
  • Green olives
  • Vine ripe Tomatoes

The video of baking blue focaccia has gone insanely viral on Instagram. Shared almost 2 weeks back, the reel has garnered 3.9 million views, over 150K likes, and hundreds of comments. Though many are loving the concept of blue-coloured focaccia and how the baked treat looks so appetising, most Netizens are finding the colour a bit odd. Not everyone is in favour of adding an additional powder to get the blue colour. Some are pointing out that the dough looks more like slime than a regular dough ball.

An Instagrammer commented, “Not me thinking it’s slime and the tomatoes are made of clay.” Another comment read, “I was almost mad at u for a sec, for ruining the slime with oil.” Someone responded to the reel commenting, “That looks absolutely disgusting.”
