Bangalore Bandh Today: Unions To Traffic And Airport Advisory, All About It

Many of us are aware of the strike in Bangalore today. The Federation of the Karnataka State Private Transport Association, representing 32 unions, has called for a bandh on September 11, 2023. The private transporters came together to hold this 24-hour strike on Monday. In the wake of this step, the traffic police and Bengaluru International Airport Limited have issued some traffic advisories for citizens’ convenience.

To hold this strike, thousands and lakhs of private vehicles are not providing facilities like other days. This is indeed a major concern for commuters and daily passengers and a major reason for traffic disruptions as well. Reaching schools, colleges, offices, or the airport; the journey is a lot different today. The bandh has begun already from midnight and is all set to continue for 24 hours. The plans of marching started from KSR Bengaluru Railway Station to Freedom Park.

Changes Only For Monday:

  • Many private schools in Bangalore have declared a holiday on 11 September due to the strike, according to a report by MoneyControl. Most of these schools are mostly the ones that do not provide their own transportation services.
  • Many tech companies allow their employees to work from home.
  • The government is running more buses on the roads. Transport Minister Ramalinga Reddy shared how police are providing security to drivers operating services today.
  • The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited is now operating more metro trains for the convenience of passengers. Officials shared that trains are running once every 5 minutes in the peak hours. For the non-peak hours, the frequency is one metro each 6-8 minutes.
  • Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation shared about running about 500 extra buses from important bus stations. The government agency is also looking into the traffic issues in Bangalore.
  • To reach the airport, 100 Vayu Vajra trips are operating.

Here’s All You Need To Know About The Traffic Advisories:

To avoid traffic disruptions or any problems during the Bangalore Bandh, the traffic police have already issued an advisory mentioning alternate routes.

  • Vehicles arriving from Anand Rao Circle need to travel in the direction of Old JDS office road to reach Seshadripuram Road.
  • People who are travelling from Mysuru Bank Circle are advised to plan their trips to Palace Road followed by Maharani Junction underpass and then Basaveshwara Circle.
  • People coming from RR Junction in the direction of Khoday’s circle need to follow the route to Krishna flour mill and then Malleshwaram.
  • Motorists are advised to not travel on some specific roads such as GT Road, KG Road, roads close to Freedom Park, roads close to Majestic bus stand, and Sheshadri Road.
  • Vehicles that are arriving from Goodshed Road are advised to travel to GT Road via Sangolli Rayanna Circle so that they can reach Okalipuram and travel close to Sujatha Theatre.

Bangalore International Airport Limited asked all the passengers to plan proper road journeys for the airport during the Bangalore bandh.
