Baraf Ka Gola Is The ‘Cool’ New Dessert In Dubai

So what if summer is over! There’s never a ‘perfect’ season to sip and slurp the gold old Baraf ka gola, isn’t it? Well, the good news is, this favourite Indian street food is now the cool new dessert in Dubai! Made with crushed ice, and drizzled with fruity toppings, these golas will take you back to your childhood days. And if you’re wondering where to look for these in Dubai, head straight to Elco in Karama.

What’s It?

If you’re a fan of Indian cuisine, then Karama is the go-to in Dubai. Having said that, we also found a new, hideout which sells the yummiest baraf ka golas- just like the ones you spot in Mumbai gullies.

Ask anyone residing in Karama and they will tell you what a household name Elco is. The restaurant is known for dishing out lip-smacking South Indian, North Indian and Chinese delicacies, but we also found our summer BFF here! Once you’re here, we would say its perfectly okay to skip the main course and dive straight into the ice golas.

We tried the rose, mango and Kala Khatta (a sweet/salt mix of gola, sprinkled with chaat masala & lemon juice), and boy they emerged as clear winners. The crushed ice lolly is made with chunks of crushed ice, which is then drenched in fruity toppings of your choice. Sounds ‘cool’ right?

What Else?

The delicious ice cones aside, Elco also has a little something for mango lovers this summer. The mango seasonal masti menu has all things mango and we bet you’re going to be spoiled for choice. From fresh mango combinations to kulfis and quirky mango-based summer coolers, there is more mango than you can ever think of. So, dive!
