In the wee hours of Sunday, April 7, a private bus heading to the Gokarna region in the Indian state of Karnataka, overturned. The bus started its journey from Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka. If reports are to go by, at least three people were killed in the Bengaluru-Gokarna private bus accident and around 33 people were injured. Here are all of the other important details that you would need to know about this particular tragic accident.

According to an article which was recently published by the Deccan Herald or the DH, the accident took place on the National Highway – 13 or NH-13. The bus toppled close to a valley called Hanuman Devara Kanive.

The valley is situated on the outskirts of the Holalkere town. As per the police statement cited in the DH article, the accident happened because the driver lost control. He was speeding and lost control at a curve. The bus subsequently veered off course and fell into the valley.

The location of the accident is quite close to the Anjaneya Temple near Holalkere. This tragic incident caused a lot of anger and distress in the local community as such incidents are recurring. An investigation has been launched to look into the matter further.

Three People Killed And 33 People Were Injured In The Accident

Unfortunately, the accident claimed the lives of at least three people. The names of the deceased, as per the DH article, are: Jagadish, who was a resident of Honnavar and was 48 years old; Ganapathi, who was a resident of Gokarna and was 38 years old; and Ronak Singh.

He was a resident of Sakleshpur. In addition to these deaths, around 33 people have been injured in the accident. The injured people were rushed to nearby hospitals in Shivamogga, Chitradurga and Davangere.

Authorities are putting considerable effort into supporting the families of the people who were affected by the tragic accident.
