Bengaluru is home to many shopping malls located all around the city. One of these malls among the long list of options is Mantri Square Mall. According to recent reports, the mall has been closed. Here’s Why Mantri Mall In Bengaluru Has Been Closed
The Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) took a major step recently by seizing the Mantri Square Mall. Nestled in Malleshwaram, this mall’s premises have been sealed by the officials on Friday morning. The officials seized the establishment for allegedly not paying taxes. According to a report by Oneindia, this mall in Bengaluru did not complete the payment of ₹50 crore of property tax. Seeing this major default on tax payment, the civic body sealed the mall’s main entrance area.
A notice banner has been positioned in the entrance area stating the reason behind slapping the mall with such a major decision. The officials asked the staff and employees working at the mall to stop all the operations with immediate effect. Also, the trade license has been cancelled. Interestingly, this was not the first time for the mall to stop all its operations and shut down.
Previously, there were several reports circulating on the Internet stating how the Mantri Square Mall was closed in December 2023. In fact, it was only in March 2024 that the mall was completely shut and then it reopened the doors once again in that month and resumed providing all the facilities and services like before.
BBMP Sealed The Mall Previously Because…
The reason behind the last shutdown in March was also because of tax payment dues of about ₹40 crore. The management and mall authorities opened the mall a day after the BBMP officials closed it. They got a stay order from the high court, according to a report by Deccan Herald. After this, the authorities of the Mantri Square Mall reopened the establishment.
