Foodies love gorging on mouth-watering pani puri. Loaded with deliciousness, each bite of this savoury food bursts into lip-smacking flavours. As much as we enjoy roadside pani puri, many of us often prefer heading to a proper hygienic store as many food vendors do not follow even the most basic cleanliness protocols. This time, police arrested a pani puri seller in Bengaluru as he was using bad-quality and rotten ingredients.
Pani Puri Vendor Arrested For Using Spoiled Onions And Potatoes
A pani puri vendor was arrested recently in West Bengaluru. According to a report by The Times of India, Pavan Kumar, the pani puri vendor, was caught by the police for his carelessness in using filthy ingredients. For the last three years, he has been doing business near Navarang Theatre in Bengaluru. Though he was arrested, he was granted bail with a warning.
Two locals of that region came across this pani puri seller and found him using rotten onions and potatoes for the filling. In addition, he allegedly fetched unhealthy water from a borewell tank and made pani puri with it. Keshav, an autorickshaw driver, lodged a complaint about the incident and stated about seeing the vendor collect water from the borewell on September 29.
Initially, the seller said that the water was for washing plates. However, he confessed the truth when Keshav and his friend discovered how Kumar transferred the borewell water into a steel pot. The pani puri seller revealed that he made pani puri’s savoury pani with that water. The autorickshaw driver and his friend Vijay also found rotten potatoes and onions on the pushcart. In addition, he added unwashed coriander leaves to the pani.
Keshav Is On A Mission
Finding a local pani puri vendor selling unhealthy food to customers came as a major shock to him. After filing a complaint, Basaveshwara Nagar Police registered a case under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) sections 271 and 272. Now, Keshav wants to continue finding such street food vendors, be vigilant about proper checking, and hand them over to the police to take action against them. His efforts for the betterment of society are indeed commendable.
Do not stop eating street food. Instead, try to visit only well-known and clean shops.
