Sports Facility To Be Built Above Bengaluru’s Shivajinagar Metro Station
Good news, people! Bengaluru will soon have a one-of-its-kind sports and cultural facility built above the Shivajinagar Metro Station! As per The New Indian Express report, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (BMRCL) has almost completed the work on this station. Once complete, they will hand back the land above the ground back to the government. Now, as per reports, the authorities are planning to make a sports facility on this ground.
Shivajinagar MLA Rizwan Arshad recently inspected the site with BMRCL officials and announced the plans for this one-of-its-kind sports facility. While talking to The New Indian Express, he said that this idea is inspired by Western countries. He further explained that they plan to build multiple entertainment facilities for the public near Metro stations.
What To Expect From This One-Of-Its-Kind Sports Complex
According to the authorities, the sports facility will have space for cricket, football, basketball and swimming for boys and girls, right above the station! Not just that, there will also be an auditorium to showcase events and a cultural centre, where they hope to host concerts in the future. The aim is to make this facility a cultural hub for the area.
As of now, the budget for this complex hasn’t been decided yet. However, the officials are aiming to bring this facility to life in the next 2-3 years. Reportedly, architects are currently working on the structural design of this complex.
