Cancelling a cab ride booked on a ride-hailing app is quite common. One does it for many reasons— perhaps a change of plans or getting a quicker ride. But one woman in Bengaluru not only witnessed a cab driver’s wrath but also faced sexual harassment for cancelling a cab. The police are currently on the hunt for this perpetrator.
Bengaluru Woman Receives Pornographic Content On WhatsApp From Cab Driver
In a report by The Times Of India, a 32-year-old woman named Aditi attended her 9-year-old daughter’s parent-teacher meeting at a school, situated just 1 km from her home in Electronic City. Post the meeting on October 9, she booked a cab from the school to her apartment as her daughter didn’t want to walk it up and she had her infant with her too.
Three minutes after she booked the cab, her infant started crying. So, on seeing an auto rickshaw, she cancelled the cab. And was charged ₹60 for it. Immediately after she cancelled the cab, the driver called her and said he drove 5km to reach her and was about to reach her location. So, she waited for some time. But after 3 minutes, she got into an auto.

Case Booked Against Perpetrator
After the cab cancellation, the troubles began. The driver Dinesh repeatedly called her and scolded her for cancelling the cab. The woman went on apologising. That’s when the unthinkable happened. The driver asked Aditi to check her WhatsApp. To her horror, the cab driver spammed her with nude pictures and videos. Aditi revealed to TOI that one of them was a nude man.

She immediately took screenshots of the messages and pictures sent. Her neighbours saw her crying and took over the matter. They called the driver and scolded him. And he immediately deleted the pornographic content. The woman filed a case against the driver at the Electronic Police Station. A case has been registered against Dinesh under the IT Act and IPC Section 354A for sexual harassment.
