The redesign project, which is expected to cost between ₹5-6 crore, was introduced in December of the previous year. On Tuesday, Chickpet MLA Uday Garudachar and Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike Revenue and South Zone Commissioner Jayaram Raipura visited VV Puram Food Street to look at the renovations being done. Upon completion of the inspection, Raipura stated that the remodelling project, which began in December, would be finished by August 15.

According to reports by the Indian Express, Raipura stated that the biggest challenge in carrying out the project was persuading employees of about 150 restaurants to remain idle for six to seven months. It was crucial to get the work finished. He also emphasised how people have trouble trusting the government. However, in this instance, they gave them permission to complete the task. Currently, the project is almost finished. Raipura also shared that all they need to do is install grease traps.

He also revealed that a five-metre-wide paved carriageway will run the length of the street. Benches made of concrete and stone have been ordered, and delivery is scheduled for as soon as possible. Coloured tiles, cobblestones, a food court, lighting, and walking space will all be assembled on the road.

According to Garudachar, the remodelling project was funded in part by an MLA grant of ₹5 crore. He shared that the street will only be open to pedestrians. Residents will have to leave their cars in designated parking spots. Additionally, the BBMP will keep bins for dry and wet waste, marked in different colours. CCTV cameras will also be installed to keep an eye on the situation, and Hoysala teams will patrol the area during peak hours.

The locals are certainly looking forward to this revamped food street in Bengaluru!
