8 Best Dosa Places In Kolkata For A Lip-Smacking South Indian Treat

A crispy, lightweight dosa meal is very close to our hearts. The simple crepe that had originated in South India is now available in every corner of the country and that too in myriad versions, like plain dosa, masala dosa, rava dosa, chicken dosa, mutton dosa, paneer dosa, multigrain dosa and whatnot. Having said that, authentic dosas have a different, unparalleled charm. Being in Kolkata for around 25 years, I had relished a wide array of authentic as well as fusion dosas in the city. So, here is a list of some Kolkata eateries where you can try out the best dosas:

1. New Madras Tiffin, Hatibagan

This place serves around 90 varieties of mouth-watering dosas. New Madras Tiffin, cocooned in a lane in Kolkata’s Hatibagan, was earlier an unadorned shop with some seating arrangements. But despite its penny-plain looks, it was always jampacked with its patrons. A few years back, it underwent a renovation which rendered the place a cosy ambience too. It is one of the major crowd pullers in the street shopper’s neighbourhood. From humble Plain Paper Dosa to Rava Ghee Masala Dosa, Dhania Onion Masala Dosa and Paneer Masala Dosa, everything can be tried out here. The kulfi here is also loved by regulars.
