If you’re someone who has been born and raised in a middle-class family, chances you’re used to getting your money’s worth out of things. Especially when it comes to eating out. So 5-star hotels aren’t places that we frequent because the idea of spending an exorbitant sum of money for tiny portions of pretentious food is laughable. It’s not news to many people that if you’re looking to get your money’s worth in food, rather than pomp and feathers, 5-star restaurants aren’t for you. To some people it is.

Kripal Amanna Rants About Overly Expensive Food In 5-Star Hotels

Remember that one scene in the famous television show Friends when Phoebe calls out Monica’s restaurant for serving “tiny portions of pretentious food”? Well, the middle-classed Indian in you probably related to that scene very much.

Something similar happened on Twitter recently. Kripal Amanna, a famous Bangalore-based food blogger, took to the micro-blogging website and shared his thoughts about the overly expensive food served in renowned 5-star restaurants. He talked about how such restaurants charge over ₹7,500 for a simple five-course meal.

He also goes on to say that the food in such restaurants is typically not particularly outstanding or remarkable. And making people pay through their noses for meals that are, at best, decent, is outlandish, to say the least.

The man went on to supplement the tweet by saying “Is it just me who thinks our five-star hotels now dwell in a parallel universe?” expressing his disbelief over the situation. His tweet was met with a number of responses on Twitter.

Netizens Respond To His Tweet

Clearly, the tweet is anything but a hottake. Many people who spend their lives struggling to get by, which is most of India, would agree that visiting 5-star hotels is a waste of time and money. And so his tweet was flocked with responses from users who agreed with him.

Since the user made the tweet this morning, it has managed to garner more than 13 thousand views. Some people rightly made the observation that such exorbitant dinners are for businesses and corporates, rather than for middle-class people.
