Brighten Your Mornings With These 6 Best Breakfasts In Town

Some of us have had a dream that has our favorite food, but then wake up to nothing. We make your dreams come true with a list of the best breakfast joints in Mumbai. So if you’re having a hasty start, or a hangover that’s tearing you apart, these breakfast joints are your life savers. They are the jewels serving mouth-watering breakfasts to add an extra ray of sunshine to your day. From century old cafes to the ones serving classics, we shed light on the 6 best breakfast places the city has to offer.

1. Kitchen Garden, Bandra

Bandra’s lust for salads has spawned Kitchen Garden, an all-day cafe by the folks behind the French creperie Suzette. Their menu is up-to-date and flashes all the health trends one sees international fitness Instagrammers talk about. Think health bowls (Energy Bowl with bulgur, baby spinach and sweet potato; Chicken & Avocado Caesar), overnight turmeric oats, cold brew coffee and homemade-granola-topped-everything, among other things. But our favorite is the shakshuka baked eggs! I mean, just look at that golden beauty speaking volumes of richness and taste!!

2. It Happened In NY, Bandra

The menu at It Happened in New York, the two month-old casual-dining restaurant in Bandra, reads like a tourist’s checklist of food to have while vacationing, in what is arguably the culinary capital of America. It’s a compilation of New York’s rich, multi-ethnic street and fast food such as hot dogs, burgers, bagels, grilled cheese sandwiches, New England lobster rolls, banh mi sandwiches, tacos, fried chicken and waffles, s’mores and cheesecake. But we’re vouching for the ‘Egg White Frittata’, which is filled with spinach, feta and multi-grain toast on the side.

3. Le Pain Quotidien, BKC

This French boulangerie has a number of delectable offerings to pick from! But the breakfast menu here is what is outstanding. We are complete fans of their mushroom tartines and berry smoothie! Pair the two, and it’s a brekky-match made in food heaven!

4. Not Really Indian (NRI), BKC

Michelin Star Chef Atul Kochhar returned to home shores with a flavor palate that is not just Indian (or NRI, as we call it) but has global influences. The food here is extremely casual and comforting, much like the man himself. We are totally in love with the poached eggs here! This brekky dish isn’t as simple as it sounds. Look at that picture and know for yourself!

5. Kyani & Co, Town

An aberration among all the other Irani cafes, Kyani served only vegetarian fare till 4 years ago. Their popularity is evident when you hear that most of their food gets over by 5pm every evening! Kyani & Co are famous for their bakery itemspuddings, cherry custard and lagano custard, biscuits and cream puffs. Their royal falooda also gets a fair bit of love. However, we have our palettes yearning for their signature kheema pav and cheese omelette. I wonder, why I never thought of this combination before!

6. The Yoga House Roof Terrace, Bandra

The Yoga House is a beautiful yoga studio in Bandra with an open-air rooftop café serving healthy food, sunny side up. It works well for when you want to eat healthy and light as there is nothing fried inside this. Our takeaway from here was the mozzarella sandwich, oozing with goodness of cheese, tomatoes and basil.
