According to NDTV, NASA has shared a few important tips to safely witness the eclipse. Here is what you should keep in mind:
- Wear eclipse glasses (not regular sunglasses) or use an indirect viewing method.
- Check your eclipse glasses for scratches, punctures or tears before using them.
- Wear eclipse glasses during all partial phases of the eclipse to protect your eyes.
- Never look at the Sun through a camera lens, binoculars or a telescope while wearing eclipse glasses. The concentrated sunlight can seriously damage your eyes.
- Since you may be outdoors for a long time, apply sunscreen and stay protected from direct sunlight.
Unfortunately for astronomy lovers in India, this total solar eclipse will not be visible from the country. The eclipse will occur during the night in India (9:45 pm on August 12 to 2:15 am on August 13), and the Sun will already be below the horizon.
