A cloudburst that occurred in a village near the Nepal-India border led to a flash flood in the Kali River. According to Pithoragarh District Magistrate Ashish Chauhan, up to 28 homes were destroyed in the village of Khotila on the Indian side of the border. About 132.2 mm of rain fell over the affected area in Nepal. If you are in Uttarakhand right now or are planning to explore it, here are 5 places that you should avoid right now. 

Pithoragarh  

Pithoragarh, also referred to as “Little Kashmir,”in Uttarakhand  is noted for its tranquilly and natural beauty. But the place is better not visited in the four months of the monsoon season. Every year, this Himalayan city is prone to torrential rains, landslides, and cloudbursts, just like it did lately.

2. Dharchula

This place in Uttarakhand is located close to the Indo-Nepal border.It is in Pithoragarh district and is a tourist haven, but getting there right now can be dangerous. With the assistance of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) and police officers, the administration of the border town of Dharchula is managing rescue efforts on the ground.

3. Corbett Falls

The Corbett falls is near to the famous Jim Corbett National Park in Uttarakhand. The falls are very popular among the tourists. The locals warn against travelling and visiting the falls during the monsoon because of the higher water levels. And now owing to the frequent cloudbursts in the state it is preferable to not visit this place.

4. Dronagiri 

The Dronagiri mountains in Uttarakhand is a place are tucked away at a height of 22,000 feet above sea level. Adventure seekers come here mostly to enjoy the rush of trekking. During the rainy season, it is particularly difficult and dangerous to travel on the routes that go to Dronagiri due to frequent downpours and landslides.

5. Almora

Almora in Uttarakhand is known for its alluring beauty, wildlife, culture and yummy cuisine. As you travel farther, the routes and roads get more hazardous. The risk of accidents on slick surfaces during the monsoon season is very high. Hence The place is better not visited during monsoon.
