In the video, we can see that Ines went to a local medicine store in a town in Kerala, where she asked for medicine for a cough. After that, the medical store owner provided a three-cough syrup for ₹252. Coming out of the store, Faria was pleasantly surprised by the price. She even joked about permanently moving to India for the same reason.
How Did Social Media React To It?
As soon as she posted the video, it quickly got attention from people across the world, especially in India. Many Indians took to the comment section to share their views on the video. While some commented that the medicine is expensive, others suggested home remedies for the cough.
One user wrote, “Is it only me who thinks that’s expensive little bit?”
Another wrote, “What you bought was a branded cough syrup. If you thought that was cheap: You could get the same medicines (non branded) at government subsidised pharmacies, on the other hand, you could also get medicines for free at government clinics or state run hospitals at their dispensaries. Next time when you are in India visit a government hospital, not only do you get medicines for free, general examination is free too or at the low cost of 20rs.”
One user suggested home remedies and wrote, “Eat ginger candy good for cough”.
Another said, “Also drink warm water”.
