Saudi Arabia is taking its theme park ambitions beyond the kingdom. The country has signed an agreement with France for a €6 billion ($7 billion) investment to develop three theme parks in Cergy-Pontoise, around 30km from Paris. One of the parks is expected to feature a Dragon Ball theme, although the final lineup has not yet been confirmed.

The agreement was signed during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman’s visit to France, where he met French President Emmanuel Macron at the Élysée Palace.
The project is expected to create around 22,000 jobs and has been described by Macron as a “colossal” development. The Île-de-France region has reportedly been working on the project for around 18 months. The three parks will be developed in Cergy-Pontoise, a location with an interesting connection to Saudi-backed entertainment projects.
The Site Once Had France’s First Theme Park
The development will be built on and around the former Mirapolis site. The theme park opened in 1987 with Saudi financial backing but closed a few years later after struggling commercially.
Almost four decades later, Saudi investment is returning to the same area with a much bigger project. The location also puts the new development within reach of Disneyland Paris, which attracts millions of visitors each year.
Dragon Ball Could Be Coming To Paris
The most exciting part for anime fans is the reported Dragon Ball theme park.
The project is being led by Qiddiya, the Saudi entertainment company behind the massive Qiddiya City development near Riyadh. Qiddiya is already developing the world’s first Dragon Ball theme park in Saudi Arabia in partnership with Toei Animation.
The Riyadh attraction is planned to cover more than 500,000 square metres, with seven themed zones and a 70-metre-high Shenron attraction featuring a rollercoaster running through the giant dragon.
While Saudi Arabia and France have not officially confirmed the complete themes for the three Paris-area parks, reports suggest that Dragon Ball could be one of them.

Saudi Arabia Is Taking Its Theme Parks Global
The Paris project is another major step in Saudi Arabia’s growing entertainment push. Qiddiya City is already planned to feature attractions including Six Flags, a major motorsport venue, and several other entertainment destinations. With the new French project, Saudi Arabia appears to be taking that entertainment vision beyond its borders.
There is currently no confirmed opening date or final list of attractions for the three parks. For now, Dragon Ball fans may have another reason to keep an eye on Paris.
