What Is Walking Pedestrian System In Ahmedabad? Check How It Helps Safe Road Crossing

Ahmedabad has been growing, and we’re not only talking about large developments but also about small changes that can make a big difference in traffic management and road safety. Crossing roads can be difficult when there is continuous traffic flow on busy streets. To address this, officials have introduced walking pedestrian signals on a trial basis. Here’s how it works!

Ahmedabad Introduces Trial-Based Pedestrian Signals

On social media, RJ Manmeet (@rjmanmeet) shared a video of pedestrian signals installed in Ahmedabad. If you are in the city, you might have too noticed them near CG Road. This idea has been introduced to ensure people can cross the road safely and comfortably. In Ahmedabad, people often simply raise their hand and cross or run, sometimes coming very close to accidents.

Now, with these pedestrian signals, people who want to cross the road can press a button and wait for the signal to turn red. Once the signal turns red, officials expect motorists to stop and allow pedestrians to cross. After the set time period is completed, the signal will automatically turn green. The RJ Manmeet even demonstrated the process on the road and explained how pedestrians should use the button and wait patiently for their turn.

How Amdavadis Are Using This Signal?

Some people have started using these pedestrian signals. But here’s a twist. Even when the signal turns red, many motorists passing by are still not stopping. This initiative is a really good step for road safety, but it will take some time for people to fully understand and adapt to the new system.

We are now excited to see how officials will further improve awareness and ensure compliance, and how this initiative will change the way people safely cross busy roads in Ahmedabad.
