It’s time to feast your eyes on marvellous palaces, splendid forts, artistic temples and more! Curly Tales is here to take you on a virtual tour through the glorious capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur. The splendour of the city along with its vibrant culture will mesmerise every bit of your soul. From Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Nahargarh Fort and Birla Mandir to Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar, we’ll ensure that you do not miss out any of the iconic destinations of the majestic Pink City. We will also let y’all know about some of Jaipur’s renowned food joints through this two-day online tour. So, let’s begin.

Day 1: Hawa Mahal, City Palace, Rawat Mishthan Bhandaar

The very first destination of our virtual tour is the 300-year-old palace, the Hawa Mahal. This Rajasthani gem, made with red and pink sandstone, is also called the ‘Palace of Winds’. It has 953 small windows which draw in enough air from outside to keep the interiors cool and comfy. It was built in  1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh, especially for the Rajput ladies. In the backside of Hawa Mahal is the City Palace. The most interesting part about this palace is that the royal family of Jaipur resides here even today. Exploring this palace and the lifestyle of its residents will let you revel in a captivating elegance!

Now we will head  to the Rawat Mishthan Bhandaar to try our taste buds on their Aloo Pyaaz Kachori, which is famous in entire Jaipur. The shop is always crowded with tourists and locals, so be ready to stand in a long, long queue. But trust us, the super-delicious, utterly crunchy kachoris out here is worth the wait.

Day 2: Tapri Central, Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar, Birla Mandir, Amer Fort, Raj Mandir, Annu Mobile Pan Bhandar

The second day of our trip is going to start with a sumptuous breakfast from Tapri Central. This rooftop café, with an amazing view of the city, is perfect for the magical sip of the day’s first chai. You’ll find more than 50 kinds of tea on their menu. We absolutely loved the way they served the tea in their signature kettle with a packet of mini Parle-G.

Any guesses about the next destination? Well, it’s the Nahargarh Fort in the Aravallis. Many popular Bollywood movies have been filmed here, like Jodha Akbar and Rang De Basanti. And the best part is, you will be able to witness the entire cityscape of Jaipur from this fort.

The time has finally come to explore the colourful streets of the city. But we won’t take an auto or cab this time. Instead, we will commute on the pink e-rickshaws. The specialty of these e-rickshaws is that they are driven only by women, who take outsiders like us on a stunning city tour on their vehicles.  A trip to Jaipur is incomplete if we’re not shopping from the Bapu Bazaar and Johari Bazaar. From pretty dupattas, chic silver jewellery and ethnic attires to a wide variety of stylish juttis, the collection at these market will get you spoilt for choices. But yes, you need to bargain a bit for the right prizes.

The best part about Jaipur is that the people in this city are very welcoming and you can converse with them for hours. Also, all spots out here are closer to each other, which means, you won’t need to travel much. We will now proceed towards the most beautiful shrine in Jaipur, the Birla Mandir. Constructed completely in white marble, the temple is dedicated to Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Vishnu. If you want to take a breather for some time amid absolute tranquillity, then Birla Mandir is the place to be.

Riding Atop The Fort

Feeling relaxed? Brace yourselves, we have more places to explore. The next on our list is Amer Fort. In ancient times, this fort used to be the residency of prominent Rajput rulers like Maharaja Man Singh. To reach the top of the fort, you can either walk uphill, ride on elephant back, go by a jeep or golf cart, or take your own vehicle. While you’re here, you simply can’t afford to miss the light and sound show which starts at 6:30 in the evening. During this time, the entire fort looks profoundly beautiful, streaked by lights of diverse hues.

We have almost come towards the end of our journey. But before wrapping it up, we definitely need to try out the Fire paan of Raja Park. On our way to the paan shop, we will be able to spot the oldest cinema hall of Jaipur, the Raj Mandir. In Annu Mobile Pan Bhandar, you’ll get more than 150 varieties of paan. The shop is so renowned that even many Bollywood celebrities have taken paan from here during special occasions. And that’s a wonderful way to end our trip. The royalty in this city is something that we will treasure in our memory for a lifetime. Once travel becomes safe, you should definitely plan a trip to this historic city to experience the magic yourself!
