Given that tickets to overseas locations like Bangkok are less expensive from Delhi than they are for domestic travel, tour operators serving northeast areas of India are concerned about the cost of airline tickets to these states.

Travel firms and hotel owners urged the government to solve this issue during a meeting at the International Tourism Mart, pointing out that flights to places like Shillong cost about ₹14,974 while those from Delhi to Bangkok cost ₹11,470.

According to PTI, tour operators said that the government ought to step in and set a cap on domestic travel prices.
