Pakora is a popular snack and is loved by all. A plate of hot pakoras with chai is the perfect combination for a rainy day. Vegetables dipped in seasoned gram flour batter and deep fried – are served with mint chutney on the streets. Several street vendors would line up to sell different kinds of pakoras in winter. From onion pakora to paneer pakora, this fried delicacy has a lot of variations. In addition to these tried-and-tested recipes, social media is full of experimental videos. Recently, an Instagram user discovered strange karela pakoras. The least-liked vegetable went viral as a snack.

A video posted by food blogger Karishma Tyagi ( @yummybites_kt) went viral. The video showed a street vendor stuffing the whole karela with a spice mix. Then, she dipped the stuffed karelas in the besan batter and deep-fried them. Finally, She served the pakoras with grated radish and mint chutney. This video went viral and took the Internet by storm. The video has around 82k likes. While some liked and admired the dish, others were not so happy. Some felt that this is a way to ruin their favourite snack.

Meanwhile, this is not the first experiment with pakora. We have come across chocolate pakora, biscuit pakora, oreo pakora, and whatnot. Karela was one of those vegetables we tried to stay away from. Many of us grew up hating bittergourd, but this karela pakora fulfils every Indian mother’s wish, to make their kids eat karela. They would love to feed us karela in whatever form possible.
