At least 18 people, including foreigners, were killed on June 3, 2026, after a massive fire broke out at Lemon Green Restaurant in South Delhi’s Malviya Nagar. According to The Economic Times, many people were injured as well. Reportedly, Delhi Fire Services received a call around 9:45 am, after which they rushed to the spot. A video showing visuals of the incident was uploaded by X user @Jasra_G.
Three people were also rescued from the restaurant’s basement by fire service personnel and shifted to the hospital via CATS ambulances. Multiple firefighting units were dispatched to the site. It included two water tenders, two water bowsers, a quick response vehicle, and other emergency equipment.

Rescue & Search Operations Underway

Prime Minister Narendra Modi condoled the deaths on his official X account. He also announced an ex gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each victim. ₹50,000 was also announced for each of the injured. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also expressed her grief over the unfortunate incident on X. She stated that the Delhi government is closely monitoring the situation.
According to The Economic Times, the fire has been successfully extinguished through the coordinated efforts of Delhi Police, Fire Services and other emergency responders. More than 40 people have been rescued and shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. The rescue and search operations are still underway.
