Authorities will develop 97 kilometres of new lines and 65 stations across seven new metro corridors in Delhi. Reportedly, the project aims to connect the outer and developing parts of the city with central Delhi. It will improve access and make travel easier across the capital.
The Delhi government has set a target to complete these corridors by 2029. Four out of the seven corridors have been marked as priority projects. The expansion will bring areas from outer Delhi and rural belts like Najafgarh, Narela, Mithapur and Khera Kalan on the metro map. The initiative will improve access to public transport in underserved areas.
There will be a mix of elevated and underground corridors. Several interchange points will connect with the existing Delhi Metro network.
