Foreign Minister Dr S. Jaishankar is on a 2-day work trip to Nepal. He landed in Kathmandu on January 4 and is supposed to continue his work visit till January 5, 2024. He visited the country following the invitation of Narayan Prakash Saud, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nepal. After landing in Nepal’s capital, he attended some events and co-chaired a meeting as well. Let’s take a look at his itinerary for this 2-day official visit.

The External Affairs Minister interacted with the cricketers, members of the Nepal Cricket team, and members of the Cricket Association of Nepal. Dr. S. Jaishankar congratulated everyone as the team qualified for the T20 World Cup. Taking to social media, the minister shared how he talked about India’s support in the preparations of the Nepal cricket team and their growth in the country.

He also met with Sher Bahadur Deuba, the Former Prime Minister of Nepal. They had a conversation about the ties between both countries and the progress in between.

Dr. S. Jaishankar had a meeting with K P Sharma Oli, Nepal’s former PM. They discussed the India-Nepal bilateral cooperation.
The primary reason behind his visit to Nepal is to work on enhancing cooperation between India and Nepal. His work trip also emphasises building better partnerships in different sectors such as digital payments and trade.

Dr. S. Jaishankar and Madhav Kumar Nepal, the former Prime Minister of Nepal, exchanged views on increasing the partnership between India and Nepal.

The Foreign Minister also interacted with Mahantha Thakur ji, Upendra Yadav, and CK Raut and their meeting focused on deepening the development cooperation.

Friday started on a spiritual note for the minister. He visited the Pashupatinath Temple in the morning and prayed for the well-being of the countries and their ties. He planted a tree as well.

Dr. S. Jaishankar inaugurated the Tribhuvan University Central Library today. His itinerary also included the inauguration of several projects such as 59 post-earthquake reconstruction projects in the culture, health, and education sectors, according to the Press Release.
