Coronavirus vaccine is under process, and till then, the only vaccine that can help us curb the spread of the virus is a mask. Without a doubt, wearing a mask has now become the most vital part of our lives. However, there are certain people in Dubai, who can now get an exemption, when it comes to wearing masks daily. As per the latest update issued by Dubai Health Authorities and Dubai Police, residents of Dubai with certain medical conditions or special needs can now apply for exemption from wearing a face mask. Applicants Have To Add Certain Details While Filling The Application Online

For applicants seeking exemption, they or someone on their behalf has to submit a medical report that states their condition may be aggravated by wearing a face mask. Once that’s submitted, the General Medical Committee office will go through the application and documents and then respond within five days.

Applicants have to follow steps before filing for the permit. They have to enter their name, Emirates ID number and nationality, and submit a copy of their ID and supporting medical documents. If you are planning to get an exemption, then here’s everything you have to know.

These Are the People Who Can Apply For Exemption

People suffering from fungal dermatitis, having signs of itching and bleeding on the skin can opt for exemption. Those with critical herpes infection that affects the mouth, nose or face are eligible. Besides this, people with a severe case of sinus and asthma can apply for an exemption. People with some cognitive, intellectual or sensory disorders and some psychiatric disorders can apply for the exemption. 

Once, the exemption is approved, wearing-mask will not be a mandate for such people. However, the health authorities still encourage them to wear one in public to protect themselves and others from infection.

However, when it comes to others, face masks are compulsory across the country when you venture out of the house. And if you fail to abide by the rules, then you have to pay a hefty fine. Applications for face mask exemption permits can be made here.
