Dubai Police Helped Rose From Malaysia By Tracing Her Ex-Husband And The Child

Rose Hu, 38 from Malaysia, met her child-9, at the headquarters of Dubai Police after two years. She saw her son last in December 2018, when his father had taken him to Dubai. As per Rose, her ex-husband had taken their child to UAE from Malaysia for a holiday but stopped replying to her messages after reaching the UAE. Speaking about her pain and the long wait, Rose in an interview with The National said,

“There wasn’t a single night or day that I didn’t miss him or thought about him and cried, but it’s all over now.”

Earlier this year Rose had won the custody for her son and after the verdict, Dubai Personal Status Court had ordered the man to hand the child to his mother. However, the man had disappeared after the court issued its judgement. On this Rose said to the leading daily,

“Police had been searching for my son for nearly four months. My lawyers called me up to tell me that my son was found. I cannot describe the happiness.”

Rose Met Her Son At Police Station On Monday After 2 Years Of Struggle

Rose had filed a custody case in 2019, but two Dubai courts had rejected her case for being out of the jurisdiction. However, Dubai’s Court of Cassation ordered a retrial. After the proceedings begun, it was clear that the father had breached an undertaking he signed in a Malaysian court in which he pledged to bring the boy back.

The mother is the most deserving of the custody of her child- presiding Judge Faraj Al Galawi said at Dubai Personal Status Court after awarding the woman custody of her son in April this year. Even after winning the case, Rose couldn’t travel to the UAE to meet her son amid the pandemic. And taking advantage of this, the father had moved his residence and was untraceable for four months.

Finally, after working hard for several months, Dubai Police found the father and child in another emirate on Monday. And finally, after a lot of hardships, Rose who had flown to Dubai on July 8, met her son.

In terms of custody, her former husband will appeal against the decision to grant her custody of their son on Wednesday.
