Dubai’s Busy Al Fahidi Neighbourhood To Get A Complete Makeover & Transform Into A Cultural Hub

The Al Fahidi historical area in Dubai dating back to the 19th century is about to undergo a facelift. Sheikh Hamdan approved of the ‘Rehabilitation and Revitalisation of Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood Strategy’. The Majesty is also the Chairman of the Dubai Executive Council. The plan was a part of a broader strategic framework that aimed to preserve local heritage and strengthen Dubai’s position as a city.

Al Fahidi Was The Core In The Journey Of Dubai’s Transformation

Al Fahidi, on the Bur Dubai side of Dubai Creek, is home to museums, coffee shops and textile souqs. In addition to the Deira side’s famed gold and spice souqs, various street-art initiatives have already taken place in the neighbourhood. It has the walls of historic buildings being repurposed into canvases for artists.

Fostering cultural diversity and boosting the cultural and creative sectors, these are vital elements of the local economy. They are the top goals for Sheikh Hamdan. In addition to engaging in public art initiatives, he lauded the work of many public and private sector partners, the ones who have contributed and continue to support the authorised plans.

Dubai To Preserve Its Local Heritage And Support Cultural Diversity

It was adjacent to Shindagha, where Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Ruler of Dubai, was born. Hence it holds a special place in his heart.

“As part of our comprehensive efforts to preserve our historical assets and enhance their profile locally and globally. We have developed a strategy to rehabilitate and revitalise the Al Fahidi Historical Neighbourhood. Which dates back to the 19th century,” the Crown Prince said in approving the plan.  He added, “We want to make it a premier cultural destination that celebrates our country’s unique architectural and urban legacy.”
