And now, the Dubai Municipality has started to renovate the iconic landmark! Here’s everything you need to know about the much-talked-about makeover of the Clocktower that is currently underway.
Deira Clocktower To Sport New Look?
As mentioned above, the Deira Clocktower roundabout is one of the most legendary landmarks in Dubai. To improve its aesthetic appeal, the Dubai Municipality has started with the renovations of this landmark monument. According to a news report by Khaleej Times, the landmark will feature hard floors integrated with greenery and multi-coloured lights and an upgraded design of a water fountain. It’s worth mentioning that this project comes in line with the Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan. Doesn’t it sound interesting?
What Can You Expect From The Renovations?
According to the Director General Maintenance Department at Dubai Municipality, Jabir Al Ali, this project will approximately take three months as it will include decorative gardening, implementing multicoloured lighting, replacement of all floors with hard floors, and revamping of the fountain. This will also ensure that this new design matches Dubai’s theme while also preserving the old structure of the iconic clocktower. It’s worth mentioning that this is a historical monument as it was built in 1963. Did you know that it was the first passage between Deira and Bur Dubai? Yes, and it is located at one of the most important crossroads in Dubai!
Although the clocktower is amazing as it looks today, we can already imagine how fantastic the newly renovated Deira Clocktower is going to be when the renovations are complete.
